MY MORNING MUST-DO

20260618 084852

Every morning, I walk this road. Horses grazing quietly in the paddocks. Mist lifting off the grass. Mountains watching from a distance. The sun rising over another day.

Some mornings I’m full of energy.

Some mornings I’m thinking about everything I need to get done.

And some mornings, I’m simply grateful that this is my walk to work.

Some mornings I don’t particularly feel like walking at all.

But I go anyway.

I’ve learned that movement doesn’t need to be complicated to be powerful.

At MME, we often talk about creating healthy habits that actually fit into real life. For me, walking is one of those habits. It doesn’t require special equipment, a gym membership, or a perfect schedule. It simply requires putting on my shoes and stepping outside.

What surprises me is that the benefits aren’t just physical.

Walking gives me space to think.

It helps me process problems.

It sparks ideas.

It settles my nervous system.

Often, by the time I return home, I’ve already solved a problem that felt overwhelming when I woke up.

Research tells us that walking improves cardiovascular health, supports mental wellbeing, and helps manage stress. But honestly, I don’t walk because of the research.

I walk because it makes me feel good.

I’ve found it can change the whole trajectory of a day.

You don’t need to walk for an hour.

You don’t need the perfect route.

You don’t even need to feel motivated.

Start with ten minutes.

Walk around the block.

Walk down your driveway.

Walk with a friend.

Walk by yourself.

Just walk.

Those small daily choices add up.

And who knows? You might discover, as I have, that some of your best ideas and happiest moments arrive when you’re simply putting one foot in front of the other.

This week’s MME challenge:

Find 15 minutes each day to walk. Leave your phone in your pocket. Notice what you see, hear and feel.

Then tell us what changed.
