Feel Younger

What does it actually mean to feel younger?

Bry & Lis – refusing to take life too seriously.

To feel younger is to keep moving, connecting, learning, laughing and trying new things. It’s looking after the body we have, while refusing to let a number decide what we should or shouldn’t be doing.

Maybe it has far less to do with the number of candles on the cake and much more to do with how we choose to live.

Fight frailty …just keep movin’ and groovin.’

This one really resonates with us at Meet Move Eat.

As we get older, movement becomes more important, not less. Strength, balance, flexibility and mobility help us keep doing the things we love and, most importantly, maintain our independence.

And movement doesn’t have to mean pushing ourselves harder and harder. Walk. Garden. Dance. Swim. Practice yoga. Get out of the chair, stretch, strengthen and keep challenging your balance. You will learn to LOVE the tree pose 😉

Keep moving because you can.

Keep your mind curious.

Feeling younger is also about keeping curious.

Learn something. Read. Travel somewhere new. Take a different route home. Try a new yoga pose. Cook with an ingredient you’ve never used before. Talk to someone you might not normally talk to.

Our brains, just like our bodies, benefit from being challenged.

We don’t have to stop discovering simply because we’re getting older.

Find your people….they might be sitting in the chair next to you.

Perhaps one of the loveliest reminders is to surround yourself with people you enjoy.

Friendship, laughter and belonging matter.

Spend time with people who encourage you, listen to you, make you laugh and occasionally convince you to do something you might otherwise have talked yourself out of.

Community keeps us connected to life.

At Meet Move Eat, we see this all the time. People might arrive for the yoga, the retreat pamper or the food, but often it’s the conversations, laughter and friendships around the edges that become just as important.

Eat well – without making it complicated

Food is another way we care for our future selves.

Think colorful vegetables, fruit, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, good fats and plenty of fresh, simple food.

But eating well isn’t about creating another list of rules.

Food should nourish us, certainly – but it should also bring pleasure. Sit around a table. Share it. Savour it. Enjoy the cake occasionally too.

Be here for your own life.

Breathe.

Notice where you are.

Spend less time worrying about how old you’re becoming and more time enjoying the age you are now.

Yoga teaches us this beautifully. Come back to the breath. Come back to the body. Come back to this moment.

Because this is where life is actually happening.

And perhaps most importantly…

Don’t start shrinking your life simply because you’re getting older.

Wear the coloured coat. Book the trip. Learn the thing. Get stronger. Make new friends. And YES, dance like no-one’s watching. Laugh out loud. Try yoga. Sit at a long table with people you’ve only just met.

Be interested.

Be involved.

Be you.

Growing older is inevitable.

Growing old in attitude? We think that’s optional.

And perhaps that’s our version of a feeling younger: not someone trying to turn back the clock, but someone determined to stay curious, connected, strong and fully engaged with life.

MEET. MOVE. EAT. And keep showing up for life.
