Chair Yoga & Coffee
Chair Yoga & Coffee in three new venues for 18 weeks.
July to late November, 2026.
Join any time.
$10pp @Murwillumbah Community Centre, Uki & Tumbulgum Hall.
First session FREE.
M|Arts $12pp.
No Lycra required. No experience needed. Just bring yourself, and a chair does the rest.
There are four sessions a week to choose from, all built around the same simple recipe: one hour of gentle, guided movement, followed by one very well-earned hour of coffee, tea and conversation – and a little bit of playfulness.
What is Chair Yoga?
Chair Yoga is yoga adapted so that every body can do it – seated in a chair, standing beside one, or a mix of both, whatever suits you on the day. It’s gentle, guided movement designed to build strength, improve balance and increase flexibility, with optional props like weighted arm and leg bands and yoga straps on hand for anyone who wants a bit more from a stretch.
Every movement comes with options, because every body in the room is different – and that’s exactly how it should be. Your instructors, Bry and Lis, guide the session and offer variations throughout, often finishing with a short meditation to set you up for the day ahead.
It’s for every body over 50. Whether you’re working with limited mobility, managing an injury or condition, feeling as stiff as a board, or simply looking for a gentler way to move – there’s a place for you here.

Why Chair Yoga
- Reduce pain, stress & anxiety
- Regulate your nervous system
- Enhance mobility & improve balance
- Get out of the house early
- Get social & meet new friends
- Great coffee or tea – no rushing off
- Start your day feeling fabulous
- Read the research — it’s compelling.
Then after the stretch, sit down and get ready from some freshly brewed coffee or tea. The second hour is just as important as the first – a proper sit-down with a hot drink and good company, no agenda, no rushing off. This is where the real magic of Chair Yoga & Coffee happens.
“I’m so grateful for the wonderful instructions to keep me mobile, stretched and work on my balance. The coffee and meeting after is so beneficial and it makes me happy.” – Participant, 76 years young.

Is this for me?
If you’ve been meaning to move more but everything on offer felt like it was designed for someone else – too fast, too flashy, too much Lycra – this is for you. If you’re managing arthritis, stiff joints, balance wobbles, or just haven’t done anything “exercise-shaped” in a while, this is for you. If you’re missing the kind of regular, easy company that makes a week feel less lonely, this is very much for you.
We take movement seriously. We just don’t take ourselves too seriously while we’re doing it.
Come and meet us
We’d love to see you at whichever venue suits you best — or all four, if you’re keen! Bring a friend, bring a neighbour, or come on your own and leave with a few new ones.
